You can’t say much about success if you haven’t exhibited becoming successful yourself.
You are defined and refined by the things you have done, not by the things you said you would do. Talk is cheap and successful people are exquisite and expensive.
The greatest challenge to achieving success in these modern times is behaving according to one’s beliefs and core values. Often, we can hear many people talk about what they could have done correctly. Yet, they fail to do the right thing themselves. It is rare to see anyone practice as they preach – To Walk the Talk.
Character Building and Development
The adage “Walk the Talk” is an ethos to successful leadership and advocates for significant change. In any walk of life, personal or professional pursuits, your character is your moral capital. Building one’s character is determined by the actions you have demonstrated in history. A little act of fulfilling a pinky promise to a friendly rendezvous will prove a lot of what kind of person you are.
How you match your words with actions reflects your integrity. Listen to yourself and assess if you mean whatever words, you spit out of your mouth. There will come a time when you feel the urge to stop talking and start taking action. A promise is empty until it’s proven. Stop saying and begin showing your results.
Take action on the things you say you would do; not to please anybody but to uplift your character. Although words are essential to communicate your message, it loses power when your actions exhibit otherwise.
Again, Walking the Talk is a great challenge for everyone who aspires to succeed. You start to lead yourself effectively and foster the change that you want to see in your life by simply doing it. Having done that, you have manifested these following attributes well enough:
Leading by Example
Living the life of an entrepreneur requires building networks. Over time, you will meet various people. Each possesses different principles and excels in their respective expertise.
There are always the “talkers” and the “doers”. Yes, the strength of the other cannot take against the other, but at the end of the day, what we want to see is results. What does their track record show? Can we truly live by our core values with just words?
Most people we come across who expressed fewer words are usually the ones who have accomplished a lot in their career and personal lives. They don’t brag, but their achievements glow effortlessly. They don’t have to say in detail what they do and how they did it. They become the walking portraits of it.
We can create an impact to change the world by leading as an example. Look closely at actions so words will never fool you. Like the person who made a video about “How to gain 1 million views in just three days” posted two years ago on YouTube with only seven views, I reckon he must rather keep those tips secret for himself as they didn’t fulfil their objective.
Would you trust a financial advisor in managing your investments and finances if he has a lousy credit rating himself?
Walking the Talk is crucial. You have to lead as a perfect example of what you say, or else you’ll be regarded as a scam or end up as a funny meme to be mocked at.
How to truly “Walk the Talk”
Be the person you always say you would be. Easier said than done, right? Here are five ways to align your message with your actions:
Conclusion
If you are not committed or not interested in doing it, don’t say it. Let your results speak for you. Honor your word, do the work and deliver. Show how it’s done and flourish with your life. That’s how you Walk the Talk.
