Purpose:
To establish guidelines for video clip sound designing. This SOP must be followed by all personnel assigned to this task.
Tools to consider:
Adobe Audition is a comprehensive toolset that includes multitrack, waveform, and spectral display for creating, mixing, editing, and restoring audio content.
Procedure:
- Download and Launch Adobe After-Effects.
Here are below guides for Installing:
- Go to the Adobe Audition website. (link: https://www.adobe.com/ph_en/products/audition/free-trial-download.html) or go to the creative cloud to download.
- Adobe Audition has a subscription, ask the admin for the product key, and is available on Mac and Windows
- Download the installer, and the installer will guide you through the process.
- Then if the installation is successful. Launch the application.
- Import audio file into Adobe Audition:
- From the File, select New then Audio File.
- Within the File Panel, you can drag and drop files.
- You can manually import the audio file from the application:
- Choose File > Import > Raw Data
- Use command keys: Ctrl + I for Windows and ⌘ + I for Mac.
- Add clips in the Timeline
- From the File, select New then Audio File.
- Insert a multitrack session from the Files panel.
- Select the files you want to insert from the Files panel.
- At the top of the Files panel, click the Insert into Multitrack button. Then choose either New Multitrack Session or an open session.
- Assess the flow of the audio clip by:
- Devising the soundtrack of the audio clip.
- Highlighting where the interesting, happy, sad, simple, lively, or intriguing part is located. Then mark them to add sound effects or background music.
- Make sure the sound effects or background music are relevant to the video clip’s topic and theme. If you don’t need it, don’t add extra marks for effects.
- Adding sound effects or background music:
- If you have a pre-made sound effects or background music, drag and dop them to the multitrack panel.
- If you are planning to have a customized sound effects:
- Start with the key elements from your sound plan.
- Ensure you’ve the necessary time on the most important effects and is achievable within deadlines.
- Be creative.
- After finishing the process, go over the audio clips to see if the topic and conversation of the audio clip match the added sound effects.
- After the audio has been finalized, it can be rendered and submitted as draft and final output. If any changes are required, look into the revisions process.
